Choose Children’s Furniture That is Durable

Childrens furniture is something that can be a fun purchase or a stressful purchase. There are several things to consider before you make the final selection. Examples are durability, budget, space, décor, age and preference. Durability is one of those things that you can’t afford to skimp on. Not only do you want furniture that is going to last a while, but you also want to make sure that the furniture is safe.

When looking at childrens furniture it is ideal to always have a budget in mind. Only you know what you can afford. Even if you are low on funds, that doesn’t mean that you can’t find quality childrens furniture. Comparison shopping locally or online will reveal a wide range of options regardless of the price range you are aiming for.

Then you need to factor just how much space you have. Are you looking for only a bed or a complete bedroom set? Childrens furniture, just like any other type of furniture, can be very deceiving in terms of size, whether on the store room floor or online pictures. Be sure you realize how much space you have available and continue to watch out for measurements while you’re shopping for childrens furniture.

For décor, once again you have tons of options. If you are shopping for a girls room you can always go for the traditional pink, yellow and purple furnishings. Character designs such as Barbie and Disney characters are always a big hit in girls room décor. Or you can also decorate with flowers or furry animals.

And while speaking of décor, a pre-teen may not appreciate a Barbie styled room, while a 5 year old would love it. Keep the age in consideration, not only because of the décor, but also for the furniture’s functionality. Is the child young enough for a toddler bed or bunk bed? The age is going to be a huge deciding factor of what type of children’s furniture you purchase.

Finally, preference. If your child is old enough, they may have their own preference in style. Maybe they prefer modern or shabby chic bedroom furniture. While you as the parent have the final word in what bedroom furniture will be purchased, it’s also a good idea to let the child have input in what type of style they prefer.

Tim Orick enjoys the outdoors and wants everyone to experience the same. From an early age he has been fascinated with solar energy, wind power and hydro power. Recycling, water conservation and environmental awareness has recently gained attention on a global scale and if we all do our part, there are enough resources for many generations. Prevent Bad Breath By Eliminating The Triggers

Bad breath simply comes and goes for some people. Perhaps we only wake up with bad breath in the morning. Or eating certain foods, like onion or pizza. These are more obvious triggers for bad breath. But the bacteria that release the volatile sulfur compounds of bad breath find a great breeding ground in tongues that are coated or lined with cracks. Mucous and phlegm also contain proteins, and these bacteria exist to break down proteins. So if you suffer from phlegmatic nasal conditions, there’s a good chance there is an associated increase in bad breath.

However, despite any existing conditions like fissured tongues or excess phlegm, that are more difficult to change, there are things we can avoid to minimize bad breath occurring.

What makes bad breath worse?

  • A dry mouth:
Saliva keeps bad breath at bay because it is rich in oxygen. The bacteria that lead to symptoms of bad breath are anaerobic bacteria, meaning they live in an environment that does not have oxygen. When you have a dry mouth you’re creating an environment that is more similar to their ‘home’, one that has little oxygen. So the bacteria thrive, and so does bad breath.

This is a problem for people who sleep with their mouths open, in particular. Breathing through your mouth all night dries out your mouth so you wake up with less-than-pleasant morning breath.

  • Certain foods that are high in protein like meat, and for those who are lactose intolerant, dairy:
If you don’t digest dairy products well, the bacteria have more of a chance to digest the proteins in milk and produce the volatile sulfur compounds that result in bad breath.

  • Not flossing:
Similarly, if you don’t floss after a meal, especially if you’ve eaten meat, the bacteria in your mouth have ample time to break down the meat proteins stuck between your teeth.

  • Acidic foods and drinks like coffee:
Acidic foods and drinks create an environment in which bacteria will multiply faster

  • Alcohol:
Even if its in a mouthwash, alcohol will dry your mouth out, and then you have all the bad breath problems associated with a dry mouth

  • Sugar:
Sugar is food for bacteria. Enough said!! And this is why even mint flavored sugar products won’t make your breath smell any better.

  • Toothpaste containing SLS, or sodium laureth sulfate:
SLS is a harsh chemical that damages the lining of the mouth, albeit on a microscopic level. In the lab, SLS is used to destabilize membranes, and make protein and fats soluble. That’s why it has a ‘soapy’ or foaming effect. Because it is a soap, it has a drying effect in your mouth. This of course leads to bad breath. It has also been linked to canker sores, and many people who suffer from these have found relief by switching to a toothpaste that doesn’t contain SLS.

What Would You Prefer To Eat ?

Weve entered the Twilight Zone when it comes to the multitude of diets being promoted today. Starting with the Atkins Diet, then the South Beach Diet, now the Hamptons Diet and more. All higher in protein, lower in carbs, but the dissimilarity should be quality of carbs, not singling out one nutrient entirely. If you are on the Atkins Diet, South Beach Diet or any other deviation of a high protein/low carb diet simply adjust from eating low quality carbs like refined flour and sugar products (think if it comes in a box, its likely low quality) to eating more whole food products like fresh vegetables and fruits – yes fruits.

Business Financing Made Simple

Do you have a new or growing business? If you do, sooner or later you will need business financing. Of course, if you are like most business owners, your first inclination might be to look for a business loan. Unfortunately, business loans can be very hard to get, take weeks to set up and dont fit too well with most businesses. You might be better off looking for alternative business financing products.

I am going to discuss two alternative business financing products. As opposed to the traditional business loan, they are easy to obtain, can be set up in days, and they grow as your business grows.

Invoice Factoring

If your biggest business financing challenge is that you have clients who take as long as 60 days to pay their invoices, then the solution is to factor your invoices. Factoring, or invoice factoring as it is often called, accelerates your clients invoice payments and gets you paid in about 2 days. Factoring does not involve changing your customers payment habits, but rather, financing your slow paying invoices through a factoring company. With factoring, you can capitalize on your invoices and get the funds you need to meet payroll and pay suppliers.

Purchase Order Financing

If you are a reseller or wholesaler and your biggest challenge is that you cannot afford to pay your suppliers, then purchase order financing is the best tool for you. Purchase order financing provides you with the necessary funds to pay your suppliers (usually by a letter of credit). This enables you to buy the goods to fulfill your orders and make the sale.

Both purchase order financing and invoice factoring can be obtained from a factoring company (rather than a bank). Both solutions are very affordable, but they work best when the business has profit margins of 15% or more.

So, if you own a business that needs financing, be sure to look at these non-traditional business financing tools.

Diet After Forty

Death in middle life is usually due to the giving out of various vital parts of the body when subjected to strain. Nervous collapse, high blood pressure, hardening of the arteries, apoplexy, heart failure and kidney disease are some of the types of functional diseases that are likely to set in at this time.

To meet this period successfully, certain precautions need to be observed.

1) Cut down on the amount of food eaten sufficiently to combat the tendency to put on weight.

2) Be very moderate in the use of meats, salts and condiments; take plenty of water.

3) Get plenty of fresh air and exercise, but avoid strenuous exertions which overfatigue and place undue strain on the heart.

4) Take more recreation and rest.

5) Cultivate mental hygiene; avoid nervous strain.

Although the same nutritive essentialsfuel, protein, mineral salts and vitaminsare required to nourish the body from the cradle to the grave, it should be emphasized that the amounts needed are less in the latter part of life, especially after seventy, than in the more active adult years.

There is no further need of tissue-building materials for growth, and the amount of these substances for tissue maintenance or repair is at a minimum. For this reason, the protein requirement in old age is reduced, while at the same time an excess of protein is more difficult for the body to handle than ever before.

The calorie requirement is also materially reduced for two reasons:

1) Less energy is used in muscular activity

2) Basal metabolism is lowered

It is far easier and wiser to cut down moderately on ones fuel intake and take more exercise when the tendency to put on weight first manifests itself, than to try to take off excess weight by radical dieting or excessive exercising later on. This advice should not be taken to support excessive reduction in the amount of fuel foods with the desire of attaining underweight, which is fully as undesirable as overweight.

Beyond a slight reduction in the amount of fuel foods and some care to keep down the consumption of meats and other protein-rich foods, no special modification of the diet is needed during this period.

What has been recommended as the best diet for maintaining the body in health and vigor during younger years continues to be optimum diet in later yearsnamely, a diet the basis of which is milk, cereal products, fruits and vegetables, with moderate amounts of protein foods, fats and sugar. The importance of milk, whole grains, eggs and green vegetables as protective foods still holds good.

How will your subconscious mind make things happen for you?

Copyright 2006 Emmanuel Segui

We don’t want to wait until something happenswe must make it happen!

Experiences of thousands of people lead me to believe that most of us want:
1. Money and financial security
2. Happiness and peace of mind
3. Health and zestful energy

I am a firm believer that we can make these goals come true in our personal lives. When we start thinking rightthings happen! They have to happen! Powerful fundamental laws are in operation!

When we start thinking right it is easy to put our subconscious power to work for us on a 24-hour basis. These laws work with mathematical accuracy. They will work for you, for me, for anyone who will stop long enough to investigate and to go into planned action.

Before the laws will work for us, we must become aware! They aren’t my lawsthey are yours they belong to those who will stop long enough to think, analyze, and act!

Control the power of your subconscious mind and you have positive control over your own life! It is the control center of influence.

The next question often asked is: Is the use and control of subconscious power a science? It is! It is founded on knowledge and research that has been accumulating for generations. It has its roots in the sciences of medicine, psychiatry, psychology, and human relations. Its application, however, is personal and intimate with each individual. All it takes to apply this science to your own life, under your own guidance, is the understanding of the basic principles.

It is a modern tragedy to see fine people fail to make their plans come true. I see thousands of them every year. From outward appearance they seem to have “everything”and yet they fail.

People fail because “things” aren’t working right on the “inside.” When our thinking and feeling are wrongthen we make it absolutely impossible for “things” to work correctly on the “outside.” Just a little thinking and investigation will prove this point beyond all doubt.

Success and wealth come from the inside-out.

You cannot overwork this power. In fact the more you use it positively, the better it will serve. There is no special time to use it this way. It is there to be used every day. It should be as much a part of your everyday life as is waking, sleeping, eating. It is a perfectly natural forceadapting itself to every need and desire you have.

Those who have that understanding of the spiritual forces that bring comforting faith into their lives are depending on subconscious power. Faith must be within a person. It lives in the subconscious. Those who have knowledge that serves them positively, are also depending on the subconscious power within themand they act accordingly. Peace of mind comes from faith, understanding and knowledge that are centered in the subconscious.

The subconscious is the master motivator. Under control, and directed by you, it will eliminate fatigue, drabness, and desire to put things off until “tomorrow.” It will put all goals within your reachand take you to them unswervingly.

The money that you need in your life is not the paycheck or minimum income that just lets you “get by.” The money you really need are those amounts you can exchange for the things you want, above and beyond just getting by. You need money for those “extras” you deservefor real securityfor growth. Your subconscious has the power to make all those things so important to you, that getting the money for them becomes a certain, positive action. With your subconscious, the bigger the picture you set up there first, the bigger the end results will certainly be.

Turn on your subconscious power! It is the answer to the only kind of life really worth living.

Learn how to Deal with Repetitive Strain Injury (RSI)

The work pattern of computer professionals carries a lot of orthopedic disorders. The chief complaint is constant pain in the upper limbs, neck, shoulders, and back. Upper limb disorders (also called RSI, or tenosynovitis) are the most worse as they may rapidly lead to permanent incapacity.
Repetitive strain injury occurs when the movable parts of the limbs are injured. Most of the times, the victims of this injury are computer professionals, musicians, students, and others who have to use their hands regularly in a repetitive manner.

Symptoms

The users experience constant pain in the hands, elbows, shoulders, neck, and the back. Other symptoms are cramps, tingling, and numbness in the hands. The hand movements of the user may become clumsy and the person may find it difficult even to fasten buttons.

Another variant may produce painful symptoms in the upper limbs, but the site may be difficult to locate.

The common diagnoses seen in this group are Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, Tenosynovitis, Bursitis, White Limb, and Shoulder pain. A major cause is strain due to long unbroken periods of work. Ergonomics or the lack of it plays a very important role. Lack of information about the condition leads to neglect by the concerned individuals.

Palliative measures

People concerned should seek medical attention when early symptoms set in. Measures that can be adopted at an individual level include:

Posture: The recommended posture to sit in front of a computer is semi-reclined with the forearms resting in a cradle or on an extension of the keyboard support. There should be ample support for the back. The hands should be free and point in the direction of the forearms. The feet should rest on the ground or feet support. The distance of the monitor should be 18 inches or more and at a slightly lower level than the eye level.

Rest: The user should take short breaks every 15 minutes and slightly long breaks after every hour.

Hydration: Drink adequate fluids to keep the tendons and soft tissues soft.

Shortcuts: Use keyboard shortcuts instead of mouse. Touch the keyboard softly and do not pound at it. The wrist should rest on the table or wrist rest.

Telephone use: Dont cradle the telephone between the face and shoulder while working, as this can lead to neck strain.

Messages: Dont use the computer while conveying messages in person or through the intercom.

No games: Games or surfing at work may increase stress on your hands.

Preventive Measures at the Organizational Level: Organizations that use computers in a big way can also adopt certain preventive measures.

These include:

1.You need to educate your employees on the importance of adopting a proper posture.

2.Ensure that all your employees are using quality ergonomic furniture that will save loss of working hours by guaranteeing full comfort of the employees.

3.Give periodic reminders through lectures and audio-visual presentations by medical professionals on the importance of taking good care of health while using computers.

When symptoms set in, consult an orthopedic surgeon. Do not make the diagnosis yourself. The diagnosis will be made from the history and clinical findings as there will be no changes in X-rays, since the soft tissues are involved. Nerve conduction studies can confirm the diagnosis. In cases detected earlier, attention to ergonomics will restore normalcy.

In cases diagnosed late, orthopedic treatment like injections and even minor surgery may be necessary.

Remember that all the computer related hazards are not going to hamper your life in a very short span of time. But it may take years to show the symptoms. As I said earlier, prevention is better than cure.

Roger Hamilton Newsletter April 2006

How has your first quarter of 2006 been? Have you changed your job? Changed your business?? Changed your life? XL Results Foundation had a historic month in March, with the launch of the XL Social Enterprise Accreditation Program. Providing recognition to Social Enterprises, this program has a target to reach $100 million in annual donations by 2020. In this first year, our target was to reach $2 million in pledges from participating companies. Within a week of its launch at the Entrepreneur Business School, the Program has already attracted over $14.6 million in pledges from participating companies, surpassing all our expectations.

This weeks newsletter is about the origins of Wealth Dynamics, and how such magic happens:

THE ORIGINS OF WEALTH DYNAMICS

All men are created equal
- Thomas Jefferson, 1776

Same, same, but different
- Popular Thai Expression, 2006

Wealth Dynamics, the profiling system for entrepreneurs, is based on a basic premise that we are not created equal. We all have innate qualities that set us apart, and it is exactly in these differences that we find our unique path and contribution in life.

Over 20,000 entrepreneurs have taken the Wealth Dynamics test in the last five years, giving them a focus on what they should and shouldnt be doing to follow their natural path of action and attraction. Each of the eight Wealth Dynamics profiles has its own game with different rules, teams, strategies, winning formulas and losing formulas. Each identifies the frequency at which you operate in life where you discover your flow and tune in to your purpose. Those who have taken the test have found an intuitive resonance with their path.

If these frequencies fit so naturally, where did they come from? When were they first identified? And why didnt we learn all this at school?

Before we became so busy after the invention of such things as TVs, combustion engines and electricity, people seemed to have a lot more time to contemplate the world we live in. The most evolved and influential civilization 5,000 years ago was Ancient China, which, according to Chinese mythology, was ruled by three mythical sovereigns until around 2,800BC. The first of these, Heavenly King Fu Xi, developed the I Ching which became Chinas Oracle for the next 4,800 years. While Fu Xi was mythical, the I Ching is very real. It evolved over four dynasties and 2,000 years before becoming the basis for Chinas two central philosophies, Taoism and Confucianism in 600BC. These have influenced wide ranging areas to this day, from Buddhism, and Feng Shui to our formalized family, government and legal systems.

In the beginning there was as yet no moral or social order. Then came Fu Xi who looked upward and contemplated the images in the heavens, and looked downward and contemplated the occurrences on earth. He united man and wife, regulated the five stages of change, and laid down the laws of humanity. He devised the eight trigrams, in order to gain mastery over the world.
From the I Ching.

The I Ching is an incredibly profound insight into the nature of our place in this universe. Translated as The Book of Changes, it is based on the observation that everything flows from a dynamic balance of opposites, that time changes in nature as a result of this flow, and that within these ever-changing tides there is an immovable, ultimate path for each of us. (The Tao, means The Way). The I Ching is more than a philosophical thesis. The I Ching is an incredibly intricate study and mapping of time a mapping similar to the mapping of DNA. Once the 64 codons of DNA were identified in the 1990s, we had the building blocks to decode the genetic sequence of all living things. So too, when the I Ching mapped time 4,800 years earlier, it gave Chinese masters a comprehensive system to decode time.

In the I Ching, 64 Hexagrams combining Yin and Yang make up the entire DNA of time (and energy). These interplay with the five elements of place (and matter): Wood, fire, earth, metal and water. The philosophy behind this code is based on the famous circular image of the Taiji: The perpetual interplay of Yin & Yang, Night & Day, Male & Female. The universe was seen as a constant flux, and we have the opportunity to live in resonance with this flux by understanding it and following our path within it, or to be in a constant battle against it. (Much as a great surfer picks the right wave not by riding the wave, but by reading the ocean).

As we are born from energy to matter, we take on varying qualities of the first four elements, and it is this combination that defines our differences. Wealth Dynamics follows almost all modern psychometric testing, which takes its roots from the I Ching with one very significant difference

The I Ching remained inaccessible to the Western World for the first 4,000 years of its life. This changed in 1911 when Richard Wilhelm, a German missionary and scholar in China, met Lao Nai-hsuan, a Chinese sage in the I Ching. Lao believed it was time for the Western world to learn of the I Ching, and from 1913 to 1921 the two of them worked together at translating the intricacies of the I Ching into German. Lao died in 1921 as soon as the translation was completed, and Wilhelm took the translation back to Germany.

It was here that he met psychoanalyst, Carl Jung. Jung had been Sigmund Freuds understudy for six years, and he had fallen out with his mentor over differences in their views of the unconscious. While Freud believed that we are the result of our family and social conditioning, Jung believed we are born with inherent traits. When Wilhelm showed Jung his translation of the I Ching, it had a profound effect on Jung, to the extent that Jung wrote the introduction to the book and helped to get the I Ching published. From the I Ching and his conversations with Wilhelm, Jung gained a new clarity into the nature of personality types:

For the first time this profoundest work of the Orient was introduced to the West in a living and comprehensible fashion. What he told me, out of his wealth of knowledge of the Chinese mentality, clarified some of the most difficult problems that the European unconscious had posed for me.
Carl Jung

Jungs new insights led to the basis of Jungian psychological typing, which subsequently led to psychometric testing models such as Myers-Briggs and DISC profiling. These tests take the nature of opposites in the first four Chinese elements: Wood/Spring, Fire/Summer, Earth/Autumn and Metal/Winter, and relate them to introversion/extroversion, intuitive/sensory and so on. Myers-Briggs eight pairings of types match the eight primary trigrams of the I Ching. To this extent, Wealth Dynamics shares a common source in Carl Jung. So why must we go back to the I Ching? What did Jung miss in his typing model?

The significant difference in Wealth Dynamics to other psychometric tests is in its relation to time and the fifth element, water. Jung discarded the fifth element as it did not fit into the Western model of four static elements. As a result, he ended with a static model of the unconscious based on four elements, where time simply played a cause-and-effect role in life. This was ugly and incomplete, and Jung knew it.

Jung turned his attention to the intentional coincidences and total inter-connectedness of all things that the I Ching philosophy not only allowed, but expected. This led to him developing and naming two concepts which today are well known: The universal unconscious, and synchronicity (a term he used for the first time at Richard Wilhelms funeral in 1930). He built this into a full theory of synchronicity in 1952, but he never managed to reconcile this work on the flow of time and consciousness with his static psychological typing, and he died in 1961.

To this day, Jungian personality testing treats our personality traits as static elements with little relationship to levels of consciousness or spirit. By contrast, in Wealth Dynamics spirit is essential as it is our entrepreneurial spirit that will determine our wealth.

While modern science and spirit have always been divided in the West, the East has always taken a more holistic view that time, matter and spirit are necessarily interconnected. While the four Greek elements are based on physical elements, the five Chinese elements are not elements at all, but states of change. Fire does not refer to fire, but the state that fire is in when it warms. Wood does not refer to the wood in trees, but the state that wood is in when it grows. The five Chinese elements could more accurately be described as: Grow (Wood), Glow (Fire), Slow (Earth), Know (Metal) and Flow (Water). While Western culture has focused on a static physical world, with changes based on cause-and-effect (until the advent of quantum mechanics), Chinese culture has always focused on states of change, where nothing is static and where we experience entirely different realities in the context of our state of change in any moment in time.

Wealth Dynamics refers to these five states as frequencies. When we tune in to our frequency (and we all have a dominant frequency), we experience a different reality, and we begin to attract the right people, resources and opportunities as if by luck. Many people call this our flow. Not surprisingly, flow is what we find in water, the fifth element. As we follow the strategies to resonate with our natural frequency, we increasingly tune into and experience flow.

“These coincidences, which Jung termed synchronicity, are sure signs you are in the flow; Flow is a harmony of being that has been sought after through the centuries in the spiritual traditions of the world. In the East, it has been linked to the Tao, the underlying interconnectedness of the Universe. In our lives, flow is obvious in those times when things happen effortlessly, everything falls into place, obstacles melt away, and our timing is perfect. In those times, we feel a deep sense of harmony and underlying order. We know we are in the right place, at the right time, doing exactly the right thing.”
- Charlene Belitz & Meg Lundstrum, The Power of Flow

Flow is not an ethereal concept in Wealth Dynamics, but an achievable state, reached through a natural step-by-step path that each of us can tread – because many have tread the path before us. (4,800 years before us, in fact).

The end goal of Wealth Dynamics is not just to know your profile. It is to identify your path, to tune in to your flow, and to fulfill your true potential.

As far as we can discern, the sole purpose of human existence
is to kindle a light in the darkness of mere being.

- Carl Jung (1875 – 1961)

AND FINALLY

You will not see Paul Newman on the list of Hollywood top earners, yet Newman has given away over $200 million more than most of todays most successful Hollywood actors have ever made. He didnt make that money from films. He made it from salad dressing.

He started his company, Newmans Own on a wager that people wouldnt buy his salad dressing. From day one, he declared that all profits would go to charity. In the first year, Newmans Own was successful enough to donate close to $1 million to charity. By 2006, the company had reached an astounding $200 million in donations to charities.

Whats more, the success of Newmans Own has since catapulted Newmans involvement in philanthropy to an entirely new level. Newmans experience inspired him to launch the Committee to Encourage Corporate Philanthropy (CECP) in 1999. In the five years since launch, the CECP has encouraged corporate giving in America. Today, the CECP is chaired by Citigroups CEO, Sandy Weill, and the membership list is a whos who of Americas top CEOs and Chairmen, representing companies that gave over $7 billion to charities in 2005.

Newmans uncompromising approach to making a difference is summed up in the slogan of his company, Newmans Own:

Shameless Exploitation in Pursuit of the Common Good

If Butch Cassidy can have this kind of success, what can you achieve? What will you change in the coming quarter? Change the dressing? Change the channel? Change the world?

Understanding the Biology of Fear

The emotion known as fear, evolutionary biology claims, is an integral part of a person’s survival instinct. Observing animals can easily confirm this statement. Terror at the prospect of being killed and eaten is the driving force behind the gazelle’s rapid dash across the African savanna. Terror of being pushed out of her fertile hunting grounds pushes the lioness to bite and tear into the flesh of the aforementioned gazelle. Fear is just as omnipresent among humans as it is among animals, and in the past, it was just as crucial to survival. Interestingly enough, recent research is starting to show that there is a lot more science to the sensation of fear than most people would believe.

Learning To Manage Your New Life

When youre a new mother, life can seem overwhelming. Your life is full of new responsibilities, yet the old ones havent gone away. This is a period of adjustment, so recognize it as such. Here are some ideas to help you cope with this transition period, and create the life you envision.

First, set your priorities. There will be many days when you just cant get everything done, so know in advance which things carry the most importance. Care of your baby is, of course, the first priority, and in order to do that, you may have to let some things slide. But, each of us is different, and so is our tolerance of leaving things undone. For instance, I have three children, and I hate it when we resort to feeding them fast food. So, cooking a good dinner has always been a priority for me. In order to do this, some days the house is a wreck, but feeding my family a healthy dinner is more important to me than seeing that all the toys are put away. You need to decide what works for you personally.

Secondly, ask for help when you need it. Very often, people are very willing to help, but theyre not sure what to do. Tell your husband what chores he could take over for you that would have the most impact. Do you have older children that are old enough to take over more household responsibility? Mothers are notorious for doing things for their children that the kids are perfectly capable of handling. Not only will assigning chores to your children help you out, it will also teach them some valuable lessons in responsibility.

Next, be sure to network with other women in your situation. If youre staying home, find other stay at home moms to socialize with and swap babysitting. If youre a working mom, get to know other working moms and spend some time with them. Talking to other women who have the same issues can keep you sane!

Finally, take time for yourself. All you will accomplish by working yourself nonstop is fatigue. Be sure to get away from your duties as a Mom to do some of the things you enjoyed before you had children. Go on dates with your husband, and hang out with your girlfriends. Continue to pursue your hobbies, or get some new ones. Being a Mom does change your life, but it doesnt have to take over your life.

Internet: useful or harmful?

Nowadays young generation doesnt read books, journals, magazines and newspapers. And really why should they if they have excellent possibilities to find everything necessary on-line. Except information you can find a lot of other different things that can widen your outlook. You can visit Louver gallery with famous Mona Lisa, sitting comfortably in your armchair in front of computer screen.

You can also order different services. If you log on to Internet you can purchase anything you can imagine. Just clicking a right button, you can order term paper or pizza, or tickets to a rock concert. Your term paper order will be done easily; pizza will be tasty and day – just wonderful due to Internet services. Internet without doubt is a blessing for those who have no time and opportunities to go shopping. Besides commercial part of Internet one can also find a wide range of ways of communication. You can chat; use ICQ, instant messengers or an e-mail. With the help of new invention, like a web-camera, you can even see whom you are talking to. Thus you can see that people.can practically live on-line, because it is possible to work on-line, study on-line, have fun on-line and even date on-line. But is virtual world a good place to spend your time? People can spend up to 18 hours sitting at the computer. No matter how well is screen protection installed, it is still very harmful not only for your eyes, but also for your organism. Can you imagine your body being x-rayed 18 hours in a row? But this is exactly what happens when you spend days in front of your computer. We cant but mention considerate parents worries about what their kids read and see on-line. Except useful information there, children can find different sites that carry not very useful information. Thats why there are some servers that filter out information your computer receives. We cant but mention the consequences of sitting in front of the computer all the time. It turns people into typical couch potatoes. They dont care to stand up and go for a walk or to have some physical exercises. This can result into numerous ailments and problems.

Internet is an isolator too. No matter how much you communicate on-line, it doesnt give you a credit in speaking with live people. You dont see facial expressions, gestures, dont hear their voices. That can tell much about your friend. On-line you have no choice but to believe in anything that is said to you. Then dont be mad if somebody deceives you. You didnt know the person well; all you knew was his/her e-mail or ICQ number. Using services provided in the Internet one has to be very careful, not to get in trouble. But what can we do without it nowadays? Due to internet a lot of other businesses started to prosper. We are talking about age of information. How can it exist without Internet? Of course, there are some advantages and disadvantages, but we cant refuse ourselves in pleasure to get into the world of virtual wonders.

Home Theater: 3 ugly secrets revealed!

Secret #1: WHAT YOU BUY TODAY WILL BE OBSOLETE TOMORROW, IF IT ISN’T ALREADY.

What you should do about it:

Don’t sweat it. Just read what you can before you buy to educate yourself so you don’t make a terrible mistake. If you shop wisely, you can get a tremendous leap over what you have come to know as television. The good news is the better stuff coming down the pipe is knocking prices down on the stuff out now.

Plus, consumer surveys SCREAM to the electronics companies that people WANT these new, slim, high resolution Home Theater setups. There are billions of dollars to be made. Those surveys snapped the head of every exec in the biz. They geared up to make more. “Make more” equals “economies of scale” equals “make MORE money,” even at lower price points! The first one costs a bazillion dollars: research, tooling up, marketing. Then, with volume, the cost per unit plummets. The guys who want to have very latest get to pay the most. Why be that person?
If youve already purchased a particular technology Plasma, DLP, LCD, front or rear projector, whatever, ENJOY it. It IS important to realize that wide screen aspect ratio does not equal high-definition TV, though. Some think if the picture is wide, theyre there. That might be FAR from there. I hate to say this because Im a guy and guys hate this you might want to read the instructions.

Secret #2. And this is really, really big: YOU CAN’T TELL WHAT THE PICTURE LOOKS LIKE FROM WHAT YOU SEE IN THE STORE.

What you should do about it:

What you are doing now. Research. The hard part is cutting through the opinions of weenies who want to see a feather clearly, blowing in the wind at 50 yards. I’ll help you there. Read on.

There are three reasons why Home Theater Ugly Secret #2 is true.

1- The sets aren’t adjusted right. They are turned way up to dazzle you. The dazzle will bother you when you get home. Worse, it drives the set to what you’d call distortion. The better picture happens when the picture is turned down in brightness, sharpness, contrast, and whatever else has been goosed. Why do they let this happen? It’s like a conspiracy that everyone is in on – except you. Because when they are all lined up, 40 sets in a row, the manufacturers know you might think theirs is different and better. But they ALL do it, so it’s a wipe. And if a store is a little bit shady, with some hi-def sets to move at a higher profit margin, well, now, those might have been “optimized” to look better than the others.
Yes, most of the hi-def sets CAN be adjusted correctly for you in your home. MAYBE by you.
Did I mention that Bubba the shopper-doofus was there, just before you browsed in, that he found the remote control and screwed up all the settings anyway?

So, you can’t trust what you see in most stores. But wait, there’s more.

2- Many of the sets are being fed video poorly. A distribution amp or humungous splitter shares the picture among the displays. That hurts the picture. A store might have 40 sets on one distribution, but the ones they really want to move on a purer source, showing a better picture. You’ll never know.

3- What you see may or may not be high definition or even good quality. Just as bad, it might be super fidelity you won’t likely ever see again. Because, what you watch at home might not be broadcast or cablecast with a good picture. So, you can see misaligned sets fed bad pictures that bear little resemblance to anything you’d see at home. Ready to drop several THOUSAND on that? Didn’t think so. But tens of thousands of people do. Probably WILL this weekend. Eager commissioned salespeople will confide that THIS unit is the superior one. No hidden agenda there, do you think, huh?!

Secret #3. THERE’S SOMETHING WRONG WITH EVERYTHING.

What you should do about it:

Relax. Don’t obsess. It’s more a matter of things being done different ways by different designers. For example, on this set, the colors are spot on, but the resolution is a little off. On that set over there, the resolution is incredible, but the red… You are still going to love the setup you buy – and remember – you just might have it for 10 years or MORE! You’ll look at it more than you look at your wife, husband or kids. I’m talking face time. Relax. We’ll get you through this.

A personal note to THE OBSESSIVES:

If you haven’t already left this article, I want you to think about the fact that there are millions of screen dots to go wrong. Not that they will, but the 317th one from the left and 119th from the bottom IS a little shaky, don’t you think? Time to take a deep breath. One, two, three. Exhale. Even though there’s something wrong with everything, if you embrace that thought and LET IT GO you’ll be able to enjoy the – uh – big picture. The state of the Home Theater art – even if it IS yesterday’s art, is very very nice.

Relax.

Why a Home Theater? And what’s it MEAN anyway? Good questions. A Home Theater is simply the natural; evolution of the TV experience. Now that we can, we do. It’s how it goes. Basically, you get a shorter, wider picture (more like a movie in a… theater) and the picture is much clearer than the TV you sat too close to as a kid remember Mom yelling?. And you can have better sound too. It can be all around you, or just in the front. You choose. You can have a box that plays the deep notes – fun things like car crashes, earthquakes, whale farts, cannons. You get to experience them like never before. It’s not essential, but it’s there if you want it.

A Home Theater is just like going to the movies. Except the screen isn’t that big, but you can get a good seat. You don’t have to endure advertisements in the pre-show entertainment if you don’t want to. You can go to the bathroom and touch the door handle on the way out. No paying $5.75 for a bag of stale popcorn. No popcorn bagging zomboid teenagers. No lines. No sticky floors (unless that’s the way you live, not that there’s anything wrong with that.)

There. Now you know the top 3 Ugly Home Theater secrets.

Apple iWork ’08 Review

The $79 iWork ’08 appears to be a good deal for anyone needing an affordable office suite for the Mac. Apple has finally added a spreadsheet application. At first glance, Numbers is an elegant no-brainer for anyone migrating from Microsoft Excel. In the past, many Mac aficionados bought Microsoft Excel because iWork lacked a spreadsheet application. However, with the addition of Numbers and the release of Microsoft’s Office for Mac 2008 delayed until January, Mac users may stick to Apple’s less expensive option. We’re also happy that Mac hasn’t changed its file formats as Microsoft did with Office 2007.

Top Ten Things I Would Like To See Regarding Baseball

1 Put the designated hitter in the National League or remove the DH in the American League. Lets create some uniformity. It is crazy when the world series is played. The home team uses the DH when the games are played in an American League Park. But there is no DH when the games are played in the National League Park.

2 Re: Ground Rules or Grounds Rules or Grounds Rule Not Grounds Round or ground beef. I never know what they call the play. If, in the opinion of the umpire. I know I know, some of you do not like opinions, especially by umpires. But the umpire thinks that Derek Jeter should score on a well hit ball by Alex Rodriguez that a fan touches. Derek Jeter may have been running on the pitch. The umpire thinks that Derek should score even though the ball went into the stands or a fan touched the ball. Derek Jeter is then sent back to third base if the fan touched the ball. Let the man score already. Do not send him back to third base. See how confusing it is.

3 Food and drink at the ball park costing less than a mortgage payment. I suggest having a special night where people can eat at the regular price for a hot dog. Half price night.

4 Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Joe Dimaggio, Mickey Mantle, Yogi Berra, Derek Jeter, Tony Lazzeri, Graig Nettles and Bill Dickey play as a team. Today. So what if I am a little wacky.

5 The plastic bag liner that is used in the Metrodome is torn down and replaced with Saran Wrap. For no good reason, except to see how it would look.

6 All stadiums with retractable roofs. In case I am at a game and it starts to rain or the weather gets too cold. Hey close the roof.

7 Mel Allen is announcing games again. I loved it when he started up the broadcast with his famous “Hello There Everybody.”

8 People that at one time loved baseball. Now because of a strike, or steroids, or corked bats or exorbitant salaries, or whatever issue they had with the game turned away from baseball. They rekindle their love for the game and have some baseball fun.

9 My daughter (she plays softball) bats over .600 this year.

10 Your team wins. Unless they are playing against my team.

5 Ways To Make Money With One Article

Would you like to know a winning formula on how to make money on the Web from writing articles? Here’s how I do it: I write an article, create 4-5 versions of it, and sell it for use by others in my same profession. In fact, just that one part of my business generates enough income to fully support myself comfortably. Just about anyone in any profession or business can copy this formula.

I write articles for executive coaches and business consultants. They use different versions of my articles in their own newsletters, with their own names in the byline. When they purchase an article, they get reprint rights, but not exclusivity. But since they are in all parts of the country, and the world, they don’t bump into others using the same article. They are also free to change the article.

This formula can be used in any industry. Let’s say you are a veterinarian. You know a lot about pets, and about your vet clinic clients. You can easily write articles that appeal to your customers who are pet owners. You may already write and publish a regular newsletter with articles that appeal to your clients and potential clients.

What’s to stop you from writing your article to suit the needs of other vets who need to send out a newsletter? You post a brief synopsis of this article on your website for vets, offering it to them for a fee. They buy the reprint rights, and it gets used by hundreds of other vets who want to save themselves time and energy on their own newsletters.

That is one way of making money by writing articles on the Web, but here are four more ways, all from the same article.

This same article is revised several times in several lengths. It can be sold in three different lengths, for example, 2000 words to form a 4-page newsletter, 1000 words for a 2-page newsletter, and 600-700 words for electronic email ezines. That makes three more ways to sell the same article.

You also take that same article, change the title, make it more personal adding your own experiences, including your personal details and website links. You submit it to article directories on the web.

This version of your article with your name on it gets picked up – this time for free – by other websites looking for content. Each time another website publishes your article on their site, they link back to your site. The more incoming links you have to your website, the higher value the search engines give you.

This means you will start coming up higher in the search engine rankings when people type in key words in Google or one of the other search directories. That is a fifth way to make money from the same article. This technique is more indirect. Your article is being used for free, but the linking power will drive new customers to your site.

Finally, you can use this same article, or another altered version of it on your own website and blogs, to attract new clients to you. Having quality content on your site and on your blogs will ensure that readers appreciate your expertise and use your services, or buy your products.

Here’s a bonus idea for making money from your articles: compile a group of articles about the same topic, format them into a PDF e-book, and sell it on your site.

You probably have knowledge and expertise in your own field that others would pay for, in order to have quality content for their own newsletters. This method requires good writing skills, or you can hire a professional editor to help you. It also requires you master the art of marketing on the web in order to reach potential buyers of your articles. To market successfully, you can submit your articles to the many article directories on the Web, and quickly build traffic to your websites and blogs.

Alcohol and Pregnancy: Not As Bad As Assumed?

Wine, drinking, and alcohol have always been associated with a variety of negative effects, particularly on pregnant women and the fetuses they carry. The consumption of alcohol during pregnancy has been linked to a number of unwanted side effects, including stunted cell growth and impaired nervous system development. The damage done by drinking during pregnancy can also sometimes lead to neurological disorders later on in life, though only under certain circumstances. However, recent medical studies have discovered that a little drinking during pregnancy may not pose such a high risk as it has been thought to be, provided the amounts are carefully monitored and are not in excess.

Impressive Solar Consumer Products

Being in the business of solar energy, we see a lot of new and exciting products long before they hit the store shelves. We attend a lot of tradeshows and industry conferences, and it never ceases to amaze me how passionate people are about their newly-developed applications. While it is nowhere near the end of the year, we felt we would share some of these amazing products with you, our loyal readers.

One of the most interesting products we have seen this year comes out of a university in UK. It is being called the “Sun Trap”, and it is garnering a lot of excitement in the world press. It is not exactly a revolutionary idea, but it certainly is an innovative use of existing technology. It is a handbag designed using photovoltaic material as an exterior, while the interior of the purse is lined with electroluminescent material. When the bag is opened, the interior lights up! It is powered by a small battery that is continually charged by the sun throughout the day. No more searching for your keys in the night!

Another fine product that we see as being incredibly practical is the solar panel for notebook computers. This an incredibly handy tool for those people who spend a lot of time outdoors. We have all had situations when we are far from an outlet and the laptop dies. Isn’t that the worst? Well, this product has the potential to solve that problemso long as a light source is available. I plan on taking mine on my next camping trip!

There are also some awesome new products designed for use in your yard or garden. I am particularly keen on some of the great garden lighting systems that have recently been released. These are basically small lights that are used to illuminate garden paths and walkways. They are charged throughout the day by the sun, and they stay lit well throughout the night. There are also new solar powered rodent repellers that are an excellent alternative to using chemicals or traps to keep rodents out of your garden.

These are just a few of the exciting products that have seen the light of day. Engineers and inventors around the world are working to develop some wonderful new products. It is very refreshing to see that people are devoting time and effort into developing sustainable energy applications. It is only a matter of time before all energy products are designed with the interests of sustainability in mind.
